We needed to arrange transport between Washington DC and NYC for next year. We had considered the Amtrak train but I decided to look at an internal flight as well using miles. I found:
American Airlines DCA-LGA for 2 adults in Economy...
9000 Avios and £7 tax. Just £7 tax! And that's for both of us. £3.50 each.
Now admitedly that is just a short 90 minute flight and each passenger has to pay for hold luggage ($25 for the first bag and £35 for the second), unless you have One World staus ( ). But I was surprised at the low cost.
No wonder the Americans complain about our Frequent Flyer reward schemes!
Needless to say I booked it.
I think "hand-baggage only" is the norm on USA domestic tickets, but may take some Europeans by surprise if they do not read the small print before booking.
But very happy with that deal. Last 2 reward seats too
