Shocked at that. I thought MAN-LAS would have been a popular route, maybe VS can take it over!

Man-Las is a popular route.

The internal release has been posted in a couple of places, basically LAS, BGI/ANU didn't make any money. ORD did until this year when results were impacted by AA operating the same route and increased fuel costs.

Would be nice but as VS don't have any spare metal I can't see it happening.

Wishful thinking on my part. It is a shame though as BMI was the only direct flight from the north to LAS, surely one of the charters will have a look at this now.

Well, wouldn't those 330s be better off flying from LHR ...

They will be serving Cairo and Amman!

Leaves one spare though (I think).

Hopefully something will be done from LHR eventually but at the moment I just can't see it, it's all too competitive and as we all know, it's not a good time for airlines.

I knew this announcement was due to happen after reading things on Flyer Talk and Pprune. It's a shame, as there's not really many direct LAS routes.

We like our Vegas trips and were trying BMI for the first time instead of having to trek to LGW from the Midlands.

We got stung with Maxjet in Jan (but got our money back) and thought we were going to miss out on another trip on 23 Nov.

For our Feb 09 trip, we're going via SFO on VS, using an internal VX flight (hope they're safe).

I'll try not to jinx any other airline I travel on as it seems to keep happening [:?]

SO BMI have just announced they're no longer flying longhaul out of Manchester from spring of 2009.

That includes Chicago, the Caribbean & Vegas. Add that to BA no longer flying to JFK from Manchester from last month, and do we think there is room for VS to step in and add a couple of USA routes?

MAG trying to persuade VS to take on the LAS route - probably a good deal offered.
The big question is lack of metal - or can VS bring forward a Boeing deal due to late 787's?
I suspect VS have too little interest in MAN.

Spare slot yes, spare metal no. The aircraft will be going south for another LGW-MCO flight to pick up the spare capacity from XL etc.
