What happened to VS10 tonight?

Anyone know what is going on with VS10 tonight (25 November)?

I was actually looking forward to it because even though only in PE, at least I got a seat on the upper deck of a 747 (which in itself is odd because I didn't think there were 747s out of LHR anymore)

Now flight is 5 hours delayed! Fortunately I happened to check and was able to change to the VS138 but had to downgrade to economy to do it (seems like Virgin has gotten v. inflexible these days because even though UC is available and I am on a flex ticket they won't change the seats so I can upgrade with miles).

It also looks like the VS10 is back to an A346. Anyone know what happened?

VS9 left on time and is landing early on 346 G-VWIN so
Not sure why the 10 is so delayed. Very strange. They must be waiting for the VS25 aircraft to operate the 10 but don’t know why?

The 9 tomorrow is still scheduled on a 744

I spoke to the CH manager. Apparently the 744 went tech at LHR so needed to send an A346. But needed different crew who needed mandatory rest period. Having many cocktails to brace myself for the back of the plane!

I have to say in your situation, with Clubhouse access for the wait, I'd have been tempted to stay on the VS10 with the better seat and collect the EC261 compensation and throw that at a future upgrade.

Red-eye flights in economy are not my idea of fun.

Yeah. That crossed my mind but given I had been away for two weeks I was really looking forward to coming home and didn’t want to waste my whole Sunday. Plus my company paid for ticket so not sure I would get the compensation

Compensation is paid to the passenger who was delayed and not to whoever paid for the ticket end EU261 makes that clear.
