Does anyone know if the Capetown route VS603/604 will have the UCS fitted by Jan 2006? Nobody at VS I can get through to can give me a definitive answer...

This is my first post, so forgive any errors in protocol :)

Hi Simon and welcome to V-Flyer!

We're actually flying SAA to CPT next month as VS aren't even flying then - let alone UCS :D. VS will be cagey about who gets UCS when to avoid disappointing people; so noone will have a definitive answer at this stage, and even then operational requirements will affect the answer!

Sorry not to be able to be more helpful.

I am flying to CPT on 2 Dec in UC and the seat map at the moment is showing UCS (until about a week ago it was showing the old J2000 seat) so I guess it may be operating on some days but as Decker says it also depends on operational changes etc.

Just keep your fingers crossed!

The CPT flights are being operated by a combination of B744, A343 and A346 aircraft this season. By the end of the year, all but 3 aircraft in the entire fleet will have the UCS so there is a good chance you will get it.....but of course it is not guaranteed.

Thanks for the replies. I'm meant to be travelling with certain ultra fussy family members to Capetown in Jan who I made the flight with last year. They preferred VS to BA Club (who they had been using for many years) especially the friendly and chatty VS crew compared "the old dragons on BA" - their words not mine.

Only gripe they had was the bed/seat wasn't the UCS and they couldn't get comfy in the J2000. Some people don't know how lucky they are, they should try Y!

I shall email your comments to them. Thanks again.

Cape Town Flight VS603/604 will be on the following aircraft:

A340-300 (some have UCS) Until 27th NOV '05
B747-400 (all have UCS) 2nd Dec '05 to 27th Jan '06
A340-600 (all have UCS) 3rd Feb '06 to 24th Mar '06

All above is subject to alteration due to commercial or aircraft changes, but is what us cabin crew have been sent by Virgin!!

Hope this helps!?
