I see from the aircraft database, G-VHOL 1st October is logged as the aircraft that fly VS200 LHR-SYD.
Can this be right - no Suite! I have flown this route a number of times and have always been assured, and always have been on an A340-600

Can anyone shed any light on this?

According to http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk, G-VHOL did indeed do VS200 on the 1st but for some reason there was no VS201 on the 2nd?

It could be that the orginal aircraft went tech and there no spare A346 around. I know there were the very very odd occasions when an A343 was used on this route.

This is because the return flight arrived in LHR on the 4th.

Yes the original 340-600 had a technical problem, so rather than cancel the flight the only spare aircraft was the 340-300, did cause a few problems as the original flight was fully booked!

ouch!

what to VS do here, do they try and route "excess" SYD pax through Singapore Airlines, and some HKG bound pax on Qantas & BA? or do they put them on the next days flight?

Bet some UC pax were not too happy having J2000 all the way down to SYD....

Well, not that I doubted any of you, but here's a confirmation:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/940105/L/

It shows the VS 343 at SYD.

I wonder if that plane had a tail scrape?

seems that the paint has been "touched up" at the back....

No the aircraft hasnt had a tail scrape, the cleaner area is around one of the cargo doors, probly find it has had a bit of paint touched in around that area, or has had some minor cometic damage repaired.
