This came up this morning in my aviation news briefs:

British Airways Adds Three More Flights from Los Angeles to London During Summer Peak

British Airways yesterday announced it is adding three more flights on its Los Angeles to London route, the airline's biggest capacity increase in Los Angeles since before Sept. 11.

From June 2 through Sept. 27, British Airways' normal double daily service to London will be increased with three extra flights on BA 278 on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, bringing the total number of flights between Los Angeles and London Heathrow from 14 to 17 flights a week.

This represents a 14 percent increase in frequency and adds 293,436 more seats between the Los Angeles and London route. British Airways began flying from Los Angeles in 1961 and went to a double daily service in Winter 1987. The airline was able to maintain its double daily schedule even after the events of Sept. 11 slowed down the U.S. economy.

All the flights will operate with a Boeing 747-400 with four classes of service including British Airways Club World flat beds and World Traveller Plus, which is tailored to the needs of economy class customers who want to travel in increased comfort for a premium.

Regards to all.
