I've booked myself on an American Airlines flight from Orlando to Philadelphia early January 2019. The flight price was rather cheap so I didn't expect the flight to be busy but when I check the seat map even at 6 months out 85% of the seats are "unavailable".
We're travelling as a group of 5 and I don't want to be separated from the kids so this is rather worrisome. Is it just a case that they haven't released many of the seats for pre-booking as I can't imagine at this stage the flight has been majority sold and then everybody has went on and booked their seats.
Does anybody know if/when the remaining seats will be released and if it's necessary when flying with American to book seats to guarantee our party won't be split?
