We lugged our very heavy cases the short distance from the short stay car park to the VS check in, and found it pleasantly quiet. It had been our intention to pay for exit row seats, but we were talked out of it by a very pleasant agent, who pointed out that there were over 100 spare seats in Y, so we could spread ourselves out at the back and save the money.
Once we had dumped our bags, we took the car back to Dollar and then got the bus back to the airport. Despite the fact that the airport was very quiet, the TSA still managed to cause a big queue at security. [:(!] We made our way through to the E gates. In hindsight, this was a bit of a mistake. There used to be a very good book / magazine shop near the duty free sales. This has now gone and has been replaced by a very small kiosk near to the VS gate. Our plans to stock up on reading material were therefore somewhat curtailed, as the selection in the kiosk is very limited.
The plane was already on stand when we arrived, but we couldnt see what it was. The agent told us that it was Tubular Belle, which means V-Port again. Boarding was delayed slightly by a Security Checkof the plane. This was good news for fellow V-Flyer, Sky, who came rushing up to the gate after the delay had been announced. He was looking a little flustered and explained that his connection from Belize had been late getting in.
We boarded and spread ourselves out, as planned. We pushed back 10 minutes late at 6.40pm. Wheels up at 6.57pm for a flight estimated at a fairly quick 7 hours and 53 minutes. V-Port started up as soon as we had levelled out, even before they had handed out headphones and the ever diminishing amenity kits. There was no Sky News or preamble with adverts, so it was straight into the films maybe someone has been reading V-Flyer? [;)]
Drinks / the meal and duty free came in very quick succession. We all had the BBQ chicken, which I have to say was very tasty and surprisingly edible. This was followed by Oreo cheesecake need I say more? [}:)]
After we had eaten, Sky came down for a chat which was nice for us at least some of the people around us didnt seem to think so!! After Sky had gone back upstairs, the flight was uneventful if a little bumpy, I managed to sleep for a lot of it, as I had seen the films I wanted to on the outbound. Breakfast was a blueberry muffin and a bowl of fruit. We landed in a frosty / slightly snowy UK at exactly 8am, after being stacked for quite a while.
All in all, another more than acceptable Y trip no complaints about the food, the service, the equipment or the timings. [:D][:D]
