Changing return advice

Many months ago bought Ms Carter a present of a club return to SIN to go to a friend's wedding next month this was during the sale earlier in the year. The ticket of course is non changeable, non upgradable and non cancellable...

Her work has just asked if she can fly on to Bangkok for a business meeting. Given she is only in SIN for 5 days and there is the wedding there is no time to fly to BKK and back again in time for her return flight.

So trying to work out what options she has....

1) Take the outbound leg, be a no show for the inbound and book new tickets to fly to BKK and back to LON from there? Which of course her work would pay for but Y only and she feels bad the treat of the inbound club ticket goes to waste.

2) Take the outbound, then ask BA locally if can move the return leg as am thinking once taken the first trip the ticketing terms might change. My reasoning behind this is I've changed flights with Virgin when on a Z after having taken the outbound for a nominal fee. Then she justs needs to do a return SIN-BKK, or even see if the return to LON can be made from BKK

Any advice or thoughts appreciated....

I'd ask BA before-hand. They might be able to accommodate for a fee.

Blooming cheek for her work to even ask and then say they will only pay for a Y flight home when she is doing them a favour never mind the fact she wont be able to get the benefit of the present YOU have given her.

That said still worth talking to BA and then your good wife's work should cough up for any extra fees.

Money generally talks - I moved the return of a VS sale K fare prior to flying - your wife's work should be offering more than just a Y - after all, you are losing the club ticket, they should pay for that fare as well if you lose it...

BA have said there is nothing they can do as terms of the ticket doesn't allow changes. Altho the chap was very sympathetic.

Once we started to mention compensation of her inbound flight to her company, the trip to Thailand no longer seems a necessity....

Hopes the Mrs enjoys her trip and the wedding.

I had that once. When I told them the cost of cancelling a Z, pre-paid hotels, cars etc. they suddenly decided that they could cope without me.

Funny that....
