Pages slow to load

Has anyone else noticed that pages are taking longer to load?
There appears to be 2 distinct delays. On clicking a link, the loading status bar goes blank with 'waiting for v-flyer.com...' in the bottom left. The the bar goes to 2/3 complete with 'waiting for google.com...' and the equivalent of the eggtime.
The pages do load eventually but occasionally the profile pages fail with the SQL error. Typically, when you need a copy of the error, it doesn't do it.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'
Timeout expired
/forum/profile_left_inc.asp, line 436
Macbook with Firefox, but also slow on Win2K and IE6.

I am not having a problem with the forum pages loading although sometimes they take a bit longer than usual, but I still have problems with the profile pages and get a similar error message to the one above. This probably happens 1 in every 3 times I try and load the profile pages, but when I refresh it usually then loads up straight away.

No I agree with Darren, over the past 2 days the site has generally been slow and I've had that error numerous times when accessing random forum posts

Similar to above but over a number of days - generally worse around 7am BST.
error msg as Darren's but with /forum/topic.asp, line 527 (using Chrome)
I PM'd Pete - he has raised a ticket with the ISP.

Not today, but a couple of days ago I was experiencing it big time. I was unable to get on to the site until about 2:30pm
In fact today has been the fastest it has been in a long time

Yes. Noticeably faster today. I was have variable responses over the last couple of days, but wonder whether that was down to me using the Beta of Google Chrome.

I've been looking at the web logs, and from what I can tell, someone has been using Google to translate the whole of V-Flyer (probably automatically at the rate it was going through the site), which would explain why the server was probably having trouble keeping up - that's a *lot* of pages.
So - keep your eye out for a ripped-off copy of V-Flyer out there on the web in Russian, or Slovak, or summink... [;-)]

Just got this error
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
The log file for database 'pixuk_vf_forum' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.
/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 220

No major issues here so far today.
Someone has probably just put the V-Flyer URL into the Google translation page.
Regards

That one should be sorted now. I saw that myself, and upped the log file allocation to 300GB.

Yikes! Have you ever thought about truncating it! [:I]

I think it may have been. Update history in profiles is now considerably shorter.

Yes, the profiles now only show the last three months worth of status info and bar chat. Maintaining over a year's worth in those two very-active tables was becoming a bit of an overhead!

Certainly seems a whole lot nippier now.
Thanks Pete [y]

I don't know if it is just me, but it is awful again this morning (24 Oct).
Lots of time out errors and slow loading pages.

Same here, at least 50% of the time I get the 'time out' message the rest it's just really slow.

There was a period around 9am when it was terrible, wouldn't load anything up, but seems to be back to normal now.

I wasn't running any database stuff this morning, so it's either a slow-down on the server, or the transatlantic links are suffering again.

I did look to see if you were on line before posting, Pete.
It only seemed to be V-Flyer, no other site was slow - but as Neil says it got back to normal after a while.
