Miss PVG had to put up with the usual whining from me as we passed the business class seats, and even more whining when we took our seat in Y and it was a knee knocking seat pitch. Oh well we mustnt complain, the price of flights in China is always pretty reasonable. They operate a pretty sensible pricing philosophy there. Based on single flights rather than needing a return on the same airline to get the best price. And also, unlike Europe, the price advertised is always the highest price you are likely to pay, and generally will be significantly lower depending on what range of discounts are being applied on the day you book! The total for the two of us for the round trip was a tad under 200, booked three days before we went.
The flight was as bad as the outbound one for weather, though the pilot seemed to be doing his best to be climbing above it. Food and service were up to my usual expectations for Chinese airlines again with the choice of a rice or noodle dish, cakes and soft drinks.
The Chinese service industries are strange, particularly Hotels and Restaurants. The staff often get paid a pitiful wage but are provided with dormitories and meals, and this set me wondering about the quality of life for the cabin crew on Chinese airlines, do they live in digs round the back of the airport, or is it a highly sort after job carrying a high status I must find out!
The flight arrived on time, and unusually for me and Nanjing, it was both daylight and not smoggy so I had a good view of the countryside surrounding Nanjing that I had never seen before. It really could be a rural scene from any part of the world, and particularly reminds me of France, without the paddy fields of course!
Miss PVGs parents were there to collect us this time and it was back to the traffic Chaos of Nanjing.
