Arrived KUL at 02:50 by cab from the Hilton (The KLIA express stops at 00:00)
Check-in was verty quite but took ages, something to do with they couldn't access my ETA details. Maybe it's because I've already entered using Australia using it, although it does state multiple entry are allowed within a 12 month period [:?] Good job I had the print out of my ETA approval with me, as they seemed happy with that [:)]
Immigration then took some time as well. The agent seemed surprized to see both an entry and exit stamp for KUL on the same day and asked me if this was correct - err yes I said. There was no problem and she gave me an exit stamp. Maybe as there were no queues they take a bit longer to go through your passport.
Sat in the Plaza lounge in KUL waiting for the flight which departs at 05:15
Part 2
The Plaza lounge was deserted as was pretty much all of the airport. The lounge is pretty basic and appears well used (its used as pay entry lounge as well). The PCs where in a poor condition. Flights do operate 24hrs a day to/from KUL although theres not many after mid-night.
After a quick coffee I made my way down to the gate (via the smoking lounge). As I got there the pax were just getting off the first leg of their flight from Vienna. There were about 10 people including me waiting to board from KUL. Again the pax only got a 20 minute break before having to get back on the flight to SYD.
Boarding was called at 04:30. As at SIN the security and x-ray channels are at the gate area. Quickly though with no problems. Passports were than checked for authenticity (a bit late at this stage IMHO!!)
Made use of *G priority boarding and was first on in Y. It was clear that loads where low in Y at no more than 40% (lower than VS from HKG BTW).
Same B777 A/C as my first leg.
Pulled back at 05:20 and were air-borne at 05:35. It would be a quickish 7.5hr flight tonight to SYD.
Choice of films on the IFE is poor again, although my IFE doesnt keep crashing this time (less people accessing the system I guess)
Breakfast severed shortly after take-off (which was the same sort of sandwich as I received on my out-bound flight (chicken and cheese). Several drinks rounds again although little sign of any of the cabin crew during the flight.
Been quite a bumpy flight with the seat belt sign coming on several times (but not staying on long this time)
Lunch was severed 2 hrs before landing. There was a choice of chicken or pasta. I went for the pasta which was very good. The main hot meals in Y come on a china dish again with metal forks and sppons with plastic knives. There was a salad a starter and cake for desert. Very nice food again [y].
Landed at SYD at 14:45, on time again, where I just managed to watch the VS201 taxi towards the runway bound for HKG. Had to wait 15 mins at the gate before getting off, something to do with a quarantine issue.
Immigration and baggage collection was quick and easy. It might just be me but UK passports do seem to get processed quicker than other passports in Australia airports. The ETA system clearly works very well. It's looked like the bags loaded at KUL came off first.
Walked down to the train platform, jumped on the train to Circular Quey and then a short walk to the Shangri-La. Very easy [:)]
Again not a bad flight overall.
Lets see how long it takes for the miles to be credited to my FC account.
