This 10:30pm flight is usually straightforward. It departs LHR T4 at a quiet time of the evening and a quiet day.

I whizzed through security with my Online Boarding Pass and headedfor the new priority pass accepting lounge to the far right of T4(after you exit security) Its a great lounge with paid wifi and plenty of nice spots to sit with good food and drink. I am Blue on BA so its my only choice.

I leave when it says 'go to gate' because the gate is right at the other en of the terminal.

Then we are told the plane isnt ready and there will be a delay.
Then after a delay we are told the captain is no longer available so e can expect a 2 hour delay as a relief captain is found.

By now everyone is grumpy.

All the shops and restaurant start to close.

Our flight is the only one left.

Eventually we board the 767.

The co-pilot tellsus the new captain has not arrived but BA have been given special permission to keep LHR open until we depart. What seems like hours later the new pilot arrives and announces it will be a while for his checks and then we will be off.

I cant comment on he service as once we got airborne I sleep untilthe wheels hit the ground at Tel Aviv as I am headed right to the office in the morning and the 2 hours lost mean I will be even more tired.

It sucks to be so late. Nice sleep though.
