First off, let me begin by saying that this flight was a bmi one. My first ever "bmi" flight and my first ever flight out of T1 so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm happy to report that first opinions were great. The terminal wa bsusy but not the was T3 can be. I still prefer T5 for BA flights.

I'd checked in the previous day and only had to drop my bag and collect my boarding pass. The Business Class check in enclave was quiet and I was done in literally 45 seconds. So bag dropped, I made my way to security. There didn't seem to be any priority security line, but then again I really wasn't looking.

Security wasn't crowded so I was done in about 5 minutes. A quick stop over at Boots and then the long walk to gate 8.

The lounge was ok. Lots of places to sit and the wifi when I finally got the hang of it worked fine. Selection of drinks was ok, but all we had for food were crisps, biscuits, olive, cheese and bananas.

It was announced that the flight would be delayed, and the 17:15 flight would begin boarding at 17:50. So at 17:50, boarding wa announced and we walked to gate 8e and had to wait for about 5 minutes.

Got into the plane and noted with interest that instead of the usual Club Europe seats, we had a row of three seats throughout the plane and the differentiating factor in business class was that trays had been placed over the B and E seats effectively ensuring a 2-2 seating along 6 or so rows.

Flight time was 1 hour 30 minutes and in-flight meal was a chicken tikka with cream and herb, a chutney of some sort and a small salad. Bread rolls were also offered, and drinks of course.

All in all, it was a nice flight with friendly crew and a very young and handsome captain.

Thanks for taking time out to read this. Hope it wasn't too boring

I did exactly the same three weeks ago, it was a BMI plane on the way out and a BA plane on the return, same seating style too.

Two weeks after that I did BA Club to Berlin and back.

Of the four flights I found the ex-BMI one to be by far the best - made by the crew who were faultless. I was left wondering if they were ex-BMI crew or whether BA has now mixed things up. If they were, I hope they don't lose their way of working.
