Having spent some time looking, we ended up in the Hawaiian premier lounge on the 3rd Floor. This lounge was not as plush as the one at LAX, there were only drinks and the snack packs available, but it did have good wi-fi and was an air-conditioned haven whilst awaiting our next flight.
There were no announcements, so we made our own way to the gate in plenty of time for boarding. The gate area was packed and there was an announcement that this flight would be full.
The journey to Kona would be 42 minutes and would be on board a Boeing 717. The first 2 rows, in a 2-2 configuration were first class.
On take off you do get a good view of Waikiki beach and this flight is great for flying over most of the islands and being quite scenic.
We were provided with a drink (more guava juice!), in a glass, and some more snacks. I believe economy have their drinks from a carton.
This was quite a pleasant short flight, with very efficient crew, as you might expect on a flight so quick!
We had finally arrived on to the lava fields of Big Island.
