Checked in at Zone R which was nice and quiet and headed for the lounge. This is my first visit to a proper BA Terraces lounge and found it to be more than adequate for my 90 min wait. The breakfast items were just being taken away when I arrived and replaced with a lunchtime selection including tomato soup, cold cuts, cheese and fruit. I was feeling a bit jangly after a heavy night out in the City the previous day so the soup went down a treat. It seemed that every flight except mine was called and I left it a bit late leaving the lounge and heading for gate 27a as there is an additional security check en route which had me panicking a bit as the flight was showing as closing. No need to worry though as I got there with about 5 mins to spare and parked myself in seat 1A.
Departed off 9R with a flight time of 2hrs 10min (turned out to be 2hrs 25). Service commenced with the offer of beef salad or chicken curry with me opting (surprisingly) for the salad. Was offered a drink at the same time and had a G&T.
I found the cabin crew to be a bit inattentive after the plates were cleared - in fact they spent the next 90mins talking in nthe forward galley. They did not ONCE offer anything more in the Club cabin - so on returning from a toilet visit I asked if I might have another G&T? I got a one word YES from the female member of staff (who's rather ample backside was preventing my return to the cabin) and that was it.
Let's see how the return trips compares.
