After a week in Vegas for a work conference, it was time to head to SFO for the night before my flight back to London.

Virgin America fly from Terminal 3 at LAS - very nice terminal which is very bright and airy. Bags dropped off and boarding passes collected - check-in agent was fun and friendly. Through security - much easier and faster than the nightmare that is Terminal 1! Headed off to "The Club at Las Vegas" which is the only lounge in Terminal 3 (no access with VX First but we had two passes via the lounge club). This is the lounge used by both BA and VS - not too bad with range of free sandwiches, soup and nibbles and a free bar with champagne included. Good place to stay prior to the flight - sure BA first might find it a little basic though! There is free WiFi throughout the Terminal - much better than in the UK.

No flight announcements so headed off about 35 minutes before the flight. Could see the VS flight parked at Gate 2 (opposite lounge) as we headed off to gate 9. Boarding started as we arrived and we were straight onto the plane and into 2A/C. Pre-take off you can have any drink from the bar that you want - bloody Mary's it was then. The cabin crew member in first was ok but not great - when we asked what the speciality cocktails were she had no clue! Once boarding was completed, the captain came out and made the pre-flight departure from the cabin as usual. Safety demonstration is on video in the main cabin but manual in first as the monitors are steed away. Different cabin crew member did this - the safety announcement is fun and therefore you are more likely to pay attention.

Shortish taxi and then we were off - great view from the runway of the strip and as we turned left once airbourne we has an asking view of the Bellagio fountains doing one if their regular shows! Nice ending to the time in Vegas!

After take-off drinks were offered with an inflight snack. We opted for "champagne" and the snack was some mixed cheeses with biscuits served with a macaroon and a strawberry. Had a second glass of champagne during the flight. The status very nice in First - big white leather sea with great legroom particularly for a short one hour flight. Free on demand TV etc in First - watched the VS made film "Departure Date" - very sweet and worth watching!

All to soon we were landing into SFO after a very nice flight indeed. The Terminal that VX new fy into is very indeed and we had a little wander before heading off to collect our bags. Three arrived safe and sound - the fourth came out with a large dent in it. Initially the VX baggage services agent tried to say that it was"normal wear and tear / minor damage"......clearly it wasn't! Finally after a supervisor coming it was agreed that this wasn't minor and therefore an appropriate amount of compensation was offered and accepted (rather than the initial low amount offered).

Really good flight - would always recommend VX and hopefully the two VS points will pos on my account soon. I wonder if VS domestic will be as good as VX is........

I doubt macaroons, white leather seats and IFE are going to feature much on VS Domestic's one class service. :?
