This was a quick one day trip to Lisbon for a work meeting. The booking was made through a travel agent and so despite the change in BA's system were supposedly you can upgrade these after booking, our flights were not booked in the right booking class to allow this. However, at check-in it offered the option to upgrade both the outbound and return portions for £79 each way - offer taken!

Taxi to Heathrow which dropped us outside T3 - always think it is odd flying on short haul from here. As only hand luggage, straight to "fast track" security. This was not fast - the woman at the front obviously thought that i) the liquids rules didn't apply to her and ii) there were no rules on the size of the bag. Took a long time for this to be sorted!

Some shopping on route to the lounge - I had to get a 40th birthday present and had used the BAA shopping assistance team. Made an enquiry regarding a specific product - they checked it was in stock and reserved it for me for collection. Very good service - responses to requests in a few hours each time!

Lounge was busy with the usual food offerings. Plenty of work for us to do there, so time flew by! Headed off to gate 24 - the usual T3 bus gates. It said it was boarding rather than gate open, although this wasn't actually the case when we got there! Managed to make the first bus - the bus driver kept on trying to squeeze as many people in as possible. I am not a fan of these gates as the start of the journey makes you feel a bit like cattle being herded! It is slightly odd that on returning to T3 they have a bus just for club passengers so they have a "premium experience" but nothing on the outbound (suppose it is because everyone arrives at the gate at different times). In the second bus was a gentleman who when he got on kissed the hands of the cabin crew and it became apparent that he was well under the influence of alcohol! The crew spotted this and made him stand in the front galley to assess how drunk he was and decide whether he was fit to fly. Became apparent that he wasn't, so once everyone was boarded they sat him on the jump seats by the door, gave him some water and arranged for him to be offloaded - he actually left without causing any fuss (and luckily had no checked luggage). This was all done by the cabin crew / cabin service director - the pilot didn't come out to get involved / speak to the gentleman. Very professional and managed to be sorted with doors closed only a few minutes after the scheduled departure time.

Longish taxi / wait before departure. During the safety video, I think I was the only person in club who actually paid attention! After take-off drinks and nuts service followed by a "light supper". Tonight's choices were salmon caesar salad or chicken with winter vegetables. By the time it got to us in 2D/F it was only chicken left! The salmon looked good but apparently was a caesar salad with no casear dressing! Chicken was ok - reminded us of a school dinner! Came with cheese (one piece) and two chocolates. Wasn't too bad overall but have had better on short haul club europe!

Throughout the flight, the cabin crew / cabin services director were in and around the lounge checking if people needed anything. They were also always smiling and pleasant with everyone and very efficient! A very good set of cabin crew on this flight.

Arrived on time to the usual marathon walk from plane to immigration!

All in all a pleasant flight - the crew were very good as demonstrated in the way they handled the drunk passenger and also the standard of service on board.

Ahh, reminding me of my summer of jaunts to LIS.

When I did one on the 504, we were bussed to the terminal as it was parked up on a remote stand as it does the 499 at 8:15 next morning. The bus dropped us off at the immigration hall.

I just wished they had located the flight to depart from T5 as the check-in area I found quite soul-destroying . Still, LIS is actually a joy to use with the Metro a doodle to Moscavide.
