A340/LHR

On another forum, it has been reported that an A340 at LHR is now in dire need of some TLC.

Apparently, an engine strike and several blown tyres.

Anybody else heard anything?

Probably. But it's probably going out of service too.

Hmmm. IIRC this happened in mid-October 2005 too. Fellow member AerJohn reported it. And then there is the picture from circa 1998 that pops up on a.net now and again.

That was VS 4 last november Ben on a 747 IIRC. The engines struck the runway due to strong winds. In fact we landed just before the incident from IAD.

It's being reported on PPrune.org as the reason for single runway ops yesterday at LHR.

Apparently the VA A340 blocked one of the 09 runways and just after it was cleared, a Jordanian aircraft blocked the other.
