UC one-way, PE the other....help me decide routing

Hi all...must book before the end of the month and the mileage costs go up. Never flown on Virgin before but want to take fully advantage of all the amenities! I have enough miles for one-way in UC and one-way in PE. Need to depart from the USA west coast (LAX or SFO). I'll be booking travel quite early (for Jan. '07) where it looks like the 744s will still be in/out of SFO and the Airbuses out of LAX.

What routings/class would you choose? If I take UC SFO-LHR I can use the clubhouse in SFO (which I hear is nice) and the Revivals lounge at LHR (but I forgo the London Clubhouse on the way back). I'm not worried about getting sleep on the flights (this is a pleasure trip). Seems like people prefer the 744s both for UC and for PE (upper deck) so perhaps in/out of SFO is my best bet.

Have you considered flying PE to London and returning to the US in UC? The flights departing the west coast are later in the day meaning more time is spent flying through the night.
Coming back in UC you get to take breakfast in the London Clubhouse, pamper yourself with a spa treatment or haircut and play with all the funky things they are putting in the new clubhouse thats under construction. Your flight will be a day flight so you have more time to enjoy the experience, such as the dining, the in flight beautician and the bar.
The only negatives with doing this is you wont have the fully flat bed for the main night flight and you wont be able to visit the other lounges.

In/Out of SFO would also be my choice but dont hang about as this is a popular route for UC and PE redemption bookings and others will be wanting to do the same as you before the mileage rises take effect.

Thanks for your input! Bookes PE SFO-LHR and UC LHR-LAX (the second of two flights for maximum time to enjoy the Clubhouse). Quite a decent combo! Hopefully the A340-300 with Suites on the return to LAX will change to a 744 or 346 between now and January 07 when I travel.
