We`re flying to MCO from Gatwick and back in PE this summer. Can anybody please advise as to priority luggage claim at each end. In other words, is there a separate luggage claim carousel at both MCO and LGW for PE pax? If there is, then i presume it`s the one marked for UC;) Any insight gratefully received[y]

Yup at LGW for definite, but with the 2 luggage claims at MCO I think they just ended coming out first.

Anyone feel free to correct me.

But it's fantastic - you save so much time and there's a little bit of it that makes you feel special [:I]

I've only flown into LGW once and can't remember if there's a separate carousel - I doubt it though, there's not at LHR.

However, at MCO there's a separate carousel when you arrive at the first baggage claim point - if I remember correctly, it's marked PE/UC.

That said, once you've cleared immigration & customs at MCO, you have to drop your bags for transfer to the main terminal. When you go to the baggage claim there, there's no separate carousel (and it can take some time for the bags to come out)....

Cheers

At MCO it actually depends on the flight. I have seen two belts in use also just the one. Either way though, the bags are still handled with priority and UC, PE, Late baggage and short connections all seem to come out together and very quickly too. But as Michael has already said, you have a second bag drop/collection after the first.

Here's a tip - I left my sliver tags on my 'work' bag on my recent Econ jaunt to MCO - I could see my bag happily rotating as I waited in line for Imigration! (The other 2 bags turned up later on the 'other' carousel.)

BTW - the MCO luggage system is absurd AND there is an 'extra' security check once you have GOT OFF the aircraft![:?]

So is there a priority baggage section at LGW for all flights? Flying to/from BGI next month. I take it there isn't one at BGI!

Priority baggage does not m,atter at MCO, you collect the luggage from the priority carrousel than you have to hand it back over to the handlers and re connect with it at the main terminal. This takes all the priority out of it.

No(at LGW), but the UC, AU, PE luggage comes of first (Or at least it should do).

Unfortunately I do not know about BGI.

Hi tom139
You're correct about BGI -the same thing happens as indicated by Paul. All being well (if you're in UC,PE)you'll be off the aircraft, through immigration, baggage collected, through customs and on your way before you can say Jack Rabbit.

Just make sure you get PE luggage tags on yoru bags at check in - this is espcially imortant for the VH "check-in Chill-out" service as on 2 occasions now I have found that the check in people who came to the resort didnt have any tags - and then yoru bag is likely to be with everyone elses - the trick here is to either keep the tags on you got from LGW ( again - make sure the ahndler puts them on) and /or ask them for a couple of spare tags so you can put them on yoru self in Barbados!!! If you ever get UC tags then just keep re-using them and watch yoru baggage come out quicker!!!!

IIRC, luggage, and any priority handling of it, will be determined by your booking and the bar-code tags that are put on your bags by check-in. Once these are scanned, they should tell the baggage handlers what bin to put the bags in (i.e. standard or priority) and this is the system they should be working from, the colourful PE/UC tags are really there for the passenger, not for ground staff. FC Au get priority even when flying in Y, so they would not have a PE/UC paper luggage tag on their bag also. I dont think the paper tags have any real bearing on luggage priority, they are just there to look good!

Thanks,
Sarah

ISTBC - and you have more experience of late than I Sarah - but whilst I am sure the UC passengers are priorisied through the bar code I have had 2 instances when travelling in PE where a bag that was not tagged with the pretty label didnt come through when all the ones that were tagged did - since then I ensure I have the tags on - and if the do only use the bar code then whats the point of the tags?? Just a point? Or maybe its worth doing it in PE coz the bar code is reading you as an economy type bag?

What we need is a VS staffer to give the definitive.

Isnt this site amazing - theres so much we dont know reagrding what are apparently really simple things!!!!

As a frequent traveller to MCO yes there are 2 carousels at MCO but there isn't much of a gap when they start appearing. And remember you have the fantastic double claim at MCO. Where there is only one carousel and it can take an age. Although I have done it from touchdown to home in just under an hour.
