Have noticed that the only hotels bookable further ahead than Dec 05 using the 'Accommodation Only' button on the VH site are in New York. [:(] Can't do it for Boston, Las Vegas, Vermont (these are the only ones I checked).

Anybody know why[?]

I just asked VH the same question. Well I asked FVC actually as the "contact us" form only allows you to contact FVC, Post Booking, Weddings, Disabled Assistance or Brochure Request departments - no pre-booking contact.[n]

Got a prompt reply but they just said that not all hotels are available to book online as accommodation only and told me to phone. Obviously missing the point that the accommodation IS available to book online but not past the end of the year.

hzv5wk:

I had a similar reply when I posed the same question some time ago. You're right - all the accommodation on that particular page of the site would appear to be bookable, if fact when I first started researching this upcoming trip (Jun) it was bookable bewteen Jun and Dec. [:(] Because of the restricted contact headings available, it would appear that the standard reply is 'phone us'. However, I want to look at a few options and compare prices and I do not want to spend hours on the phone doing so.

Guess we'll just have to wait until after Dec to take another look[n]

Further to this saga, I still cannot book Boston accom online. Last year there was the facility to do so - any V-flyers 'old boys' got any ideas why not now[?] Or is it simply that VH are restricting the online booking choice.

You can't get the 10% discount for the Flying Club online anyway, so you will need to phone anyway, may as well do it all at the same time. Just a shame it's an 0870 number though.

No doubt that's true, locutus, but one can get the 10% FVC discount either online or by doing the business over the phone. However, that's not the main reason for wishing to book online. As mentioned in an earlier post, I want to look at a few places in black and white, compare, and then make a decision:)

To be honest the VH website is a bit of a hash effort, its very easily broken and you can search for aholiday via one route and get one price, and go another route and get a different price or avialibilty.

I will take a look online for prices, and try and check for availability and then phone up if I actually want to book, so I get to speak to the FVC team and also to get my 10% discount. Oh and the extremely annoying fact that VH take AmEx but not online may contribute....

Anyway to get an idea of prices, I seem to recall you look at the Extra night price that is listed, and then multiply it by the occupancy basis (which is normally 2, but watch out for suites as it may be 4 or 6). Then you can use your 10% discount.

Thanks,
Richard

10% FVC discount

This is taken from the price after booking online and shows up on the first hard copy of the invoice.

This problem seems to have been sorted now.

The whole site has had a bit of a redesign, and all hotels can now be booked up until April 2007.
