I want my Au card RIGHT NOW!

I've just used the updated VSFC web site page to check what I earn on my upcoming trip to Sydney, and was pleasantly surprised to be informed I'm going to be earning 31,000 TIER POINTS - Excellent News.

Mind you, I'm also apparently going to be earning only 8 miles.[V]

Anyway, based on this exciting news... I WANT MY GOLD CARD NOW! RIGHT NOW [}:)]! I'VE BEEN FLYING SILVER FOR YEARS AND I'M GLAD TO SEE IT'S AT LAST RECOGNISED! WHERE'S MY GOLD CARD?[^] Oooops! better sit down and have a G&T.

On a more serious note, they've got my money before I fly (quite a lot of it too) so why can't I have my airmiles before the flight?[?] Hmm? Hmmm?

This annoyed me alot this year with BA. My old company flew me on cheap tickets, but I would still get miles if flown. However as almost half of these bookings ended up being cancelled (but not refunded obviously) I didn't getthe miles even though I've paid the cash which they still have! [:(!]

I suspect that it has something to do with the fact the airlines dont get paid until journeys are taken,
As thats when IATA cough up.... Im not sure if this is still the case but what used to happen the airlines processed to payment and put it into aIATA pot then the ticket coupons you give at check in were collected and sent to claim the money... (because we bring all the overseas coupons back on the flights to the uk).

Its probably so that if an airline was to go bust IATA can pay up !

That's also why some pax don't understand you can't fly without a ticket.....the airline wont get paid!!

There are no vouchers with ETickets.
