Yo,

I tried searching around for this but I keep getting an Internal Server Error 500 while using the search function.

Anyway, on Sunday evening I rang Virgin and booked the following flights.

MAN-MCO (VS)
MCO-OKC (DL)
OKC-MCO (DL)
MCO-MAN (VS)

They told me they would have to issue paper tickets due to my connection being on Delta and it may take a week or so.

As I'm travelling UC, the bill is hefty and I am wondering when they will actually charge my card as setting aside the money is eating into my credit limit.

Anyone have any ideas/experience with this?

Thanks in advance,

Alex.

P.S. I am flying mid October

Hi There

From past experience .... they charge your card pretty much straight away.....although I have only ever purchased straight VS flights. The last I bought couple of weeks ago hit my switch card immediately ... as I had a call within an hour from HSBC fraud prevention querying the transaction.

I have booked flights and connecting flights with American west. They said that they only charge the credit card when the tickets are printed. This could be in 2 weeks or 5 months! So basically I was told anytime!

Alex

I booked our onward flights to HNL with Hawaiian Air though VS on the 11th January and it was billed on my credit card on the 14th February.

I did ask VS about payment times and they advised me same as V UC newbie it could be anytime.

Regards

Last September we booked connecting flights with another airline through VS and received paper tickets for both VS and BMI, we booked about 8 weeks in advance and we didn't get our CC charged until a week before we went when the tickets were issued to us. (I had phoned VS inbetween to make sure that we were booked and was told the same as v-uc-newbie)

Personally I was very pleased that I had kept the money for an extra 7 weeks :)

Our recent experiences have been pretty much all over the place. We booked our BGI flights (for next month) in June last year - got billed in December. Booked New York (went in Jan) in November, got billed in Jan. Booked for LAX/SFO (travelling in Nov) last month and - albeit booking with miles in G - got billed for taxes almost immediately.

I'm with shazam - if VS want to take their time over billing, keep your head down and say a quiet 'thank you' for the interest free credit...

OK so I have actually now received the tickets for all flights and everything, but still haven't been billed....

Seems very bizarre the way they do all this....

If you've received your tickets, rest assured; the painful bit won't be very far away...

Agree, cost seems to hit really quickly. I imagine Mark, you didn't mind at all that HSBC called you to query the transaction? I know I'd welcome someone being on the ball like that.
