Buying Miles

Now you can buy miles from Virgin has anyone worked out how to make the most of this opportunity?

I've done the miles + money several times and saved several hundred pounds. I've yet to use miles to upgrade but should have enough after out August trip to LA to try this out from PE to UC for the first time (no toilet comments please[:o)]).

But there must be times that buying miles and upgrading with these could work out cheaper than booking at the going rate.

Anybody got the spreadsheet out yet?
