Taken from a link on V-Flyer front page:

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, in a letter made public Thursday, urged the U.S. Department of Transportation "to take every appropriate step to expeditiously review and approve Virgin's application."

You can't beat friends in high places. :D[8D]

I LOVE the way that the US now include the term "Governator" in serious everyday politics, too [y]

I really like the whole Arnold story. The American dream if you will. Great family, movie star and now Governator. If he could only become President.

If only UK politics were as glamorous [ii] If the current government were to attempt a shake up towards the more glamorous, the best you'd probably get is Jade Goody lobbying for more muffin top on show [:o)]

Thanks for the article, Nick. Poor Arnold is faring poorly in the polls at the moment since the defeat of his four personally backed voter initiatives at the voting booth last Fall. He says he will "be back" for another term but the Democrats who control our state's legislature are vowing "no way". I was at a luncheon about six months ago when the Gov came by our table to do the hand shaking thing. He is broader in person than one imagines, and shorter, but pleasant and knowledgeable on the issues.

With VS standing to put all those jobs in the SF Bay Area, and presumably elsewhere in the Golden State, you can easily see why Arnie is "pro" VA.

He's actually been in the debate since the beginning. In late December he sent a letter to the DOT pledging his support, although this new letter must be in reaction to the request for new information.

Funny, If he only could.......but he could be a cabinet member.
(Arnold was not born in the USA (natural born citizen is the buzz term I think), a requirment to be President. More info)

Now Californian Governators are allowed two four year terms. Wonder if his current in office counts? Well the primarys are less than a month away.

[i] Pop Quiz: Who was the only American President to serve more than two terms?

Words never better said....but as long as we think that best requirement for First Lord means ace West Wing actors should be running for office, we're (US) a pretty dim lot. Okay-I can see THAT one left wide open--don't bite!
