This story was also picked up on Flyertalk.

Posters there are now wondering why it was only reported by the Daily Mirror on 20th May (and Daily Record) and not picked up by the other news media. [?];)

From a very reliable source :D initial tests showed that it was NOT ebola .....half of A&E and staff were quarantined until those initial test results came thru' ..... although I think the results of the PM are still awaited ....... this may explain the lack of press take up on the story.

As MAS66 has said, it was NOT ebola.

Yet another example of a journalist not letting facts get in the way of a good story [V]

Another reason why the Mirror, Sun, Star and Daily Mail should not carry the title of 'Newspapers' [:w]

It most definitely would not have been ebola. And from the description it is very unlikely it would have been rabies.

If anyhing infectious was going to be the cause then the immediate possibility would be malaria. Airline crew, government workers and oil workers are notorious for taking - or not taking - their prophylaxis.

As for the isolation in A+E it is never as bad as it is made out to be, it is simply a case of iaolating the patietn and barrier nursing them, and the on-call microbiologist at the Hillingdon put peoples fears at bay within half an hour or so.
