My other half is going to be travelling SFO-LHR-DEL. I was wondering if anyone knew what her baggage allowance would be? (she's going to be doing a lot of wedding shopping!)

I'm pretty sure that if all legs are on the one booking, the two piece allowance will apply to the LHR-DEL leg as well.

However, is there a limit as to how long she can stopover for in the UK on her way to India in order to keep the two piece allowance (as opposed to 23kg LHR-DEL)? I'm hoping it's longer than 24 hours!

Cheers,
Neal

Think they will be treated as 2 seperate flights so only 23kg on the 2nd leg.

Is she flying Economy?

Yes, economy.

I don't think it would make sense for it to be treated as two separate legs as a US passenger flying through LHR would be stuffed if they had two pieces! So I'm guessing that if the stop at LHR is only for a few hours, the higher baggage allowance carries.

Is she spending any time in UK, or is she connecting to the DEL flight right away (even if it is several hours)?
I had the same last year going LAX-AKL-SYD , 32kgs to AKL , if Id stopped over it would have been less to SYD .. but as I wasnt stopping over in AKL until return, so i got the bags checked through with 32kg allowance all the way.
Coming back I did have the AKL stopover, but the wife & I repacked in SYD & both bags were under the limit (thanks to the digital scales in hotel [:I]).

If she is travelling straight through , unless the checkin person is having a bad day the bags should be checked through from SFO to DEL... if she is stopping over in London for a couple of days then obviously she`d be claiming bags & having to checkin again a couple of days later - in which case, 2 seperate flights.

Also - Im fairly sure the allowances give you 2x 32kg or 2x 23kg depending on route (if Im wrong , someone PM me & I`ll edit...)
