Hi Guys

Sitting in the Delta lounge at MCO at the moment. Don't know if this has been discussed - know we had spoken about bags getting checked through to final destination, but thought that this might be interesting to some.

Checked in this morning at downtown disney, and asked to get bags checked through to edi. VS was an eticket BA shuttle an airmiles ticket and was told that because flights were not on same ticket, they could not do it.

Questioned the fact that we had done this in jan/feb time and many times before but was told there had been a recent change in policy but since we were UC she would check with supervisor. Unfortunately not was the answer, so it looks like paying the hellish prices from VA for shuttles if you want to check your bags through to final destination. (thats a menace [:(])

Yes, that has happened to me too. It's been in since March 1st and is also on the VS website Like you, I got caught and had to collect my bags each time. I really did not mind on the outbaound flight but on the return flight via LHR it was a real bummer.

I was booking a flight for later on in the year recently and enquired about the price of having my EI flight added to my VS flight. It added £200 and given that I can get that EI flight for Û9 it seemed a bit excessive so it looks like collect and recheck for me from now on. [:#]

A couple of years ago I came back to the UK from Denver on a Denver-Chicago-Heathrow-Manchester routing. (Having done Manchester-Chicago-Denver going out). Was travelling on American AAdvantage reward tickets, so all the homeward flights bar the internal hop in the UK on AA flights, but the whole lot was ticketed by American.

At Denver, they checked our bags right through to Manchester - we never saw them at Heathrow. Better still, on arrival at T3 in Manchester, we were on an internal flight, so the bags just appeared on the reclaim belt with all the other internal bags. Yes, we never cleared Customs in the UK with our "international" bags.

^LHR has been doing this for years - you can practically thru check bags - in the real sense of thru checking bags, not like in the States - from any airline and to/from any destination, none of this clearing customs rubbish.

That is of course if you've bought thru tickets. If you've bought seperate tickets....well you're on your own nowadays and have to clear customs!!
