Chances of upgrading with miles

I've got a booking for 3 return PE seats (1 W & 2 U - 1 rewards and one companion) from LGW to LAS in October. I want to upgrade all three if possible to Upper using miles, but understand that I shouldn't be allowed to upgrade the companion ticket.

What are my chances of getting these upgraded (I'm a lowly red card holder)? And, when do VS allow revenue seats to be released as reward seats (as I know that there are still revenue seats available for the flights)?

Your chances are low bordering on zero. LAS is a very popular routing and the fact that they only have 14 UC seats means miles upgrades are rarer than rocking horse droppings. As you've already realised the Companion isn't upgradeable. You stand a slight chance with the W. VS allow revenue seats to convert sometimes (but normally for Gold) a week before the flight.

Sorry not to be more optimistic.

I'd say much the same - I tried to book G seats on this route months and months ago for virtually every date in October/November and had no luck whatsover .As Decker says 14 seats + busy route = rocking horse droppings.
