I know that the Y baggage allowance has been reduced to two pieces at 23KG, but as I made my booking prior to the April 2006 date mentioned, does this mean I'm allowed the original 32Kgs ?

32 Kgs is what's stated as an allowance in the booklet rececived with my tickets.

If you booked before 01APR06 then yes you are allowed the old baggage allowance.

How are VS going to police this though? The only thing I can think of is by checking the ticket issue date, but what if like me, where I've checked-in for 4 VS flights without showing any e-ticket at all - how's that going to work?

(everytime VS have accessed my booking using my passport)

Will it show up on the agents screen?

Regards

Maybe I should give them a call to clarify.

Just called V-Holidays who confirmed that holidays booked prior to 1st April would have the original baggage allowance.

As for how they police it, I think I'll just take a copy of the e-mail confirmation from last year as proof in case there's any debate.

^^ Your booking and tickets tell the date. It's far more simple than people are making out - VS are 'policing' it perfectly well with no-one so far being given more than they're allowed by mistake.

At check in we're still seeing tickets booked before 01APR06 and will continue to do so for a while - it's not a unique situation!!!

Be at peace A380, there certainly would not appear to be a problem. Me and the present Mrs Treelo got the 32Kg x 2 allocation each during our late May trip to Boston and NYC - our tickets were booked in Nov 05 :D
