I purchased a couple of PE miles + money fares on Friday for next April, but I've still not received my e-ticket yet? Is this normal? How long should it take before I receive my e-ticket?

This is the first time I've ever had e-tickets from Virgin so haven't a clue [:I]

Thanks

I only got mine (for a reward flight) 4 days before I flew (May)! I was getting a bit panicky but VS said that they were working through a backlog. I'd hope they'd be through that by next April!

However, this was an amendment; the first one came through immediately [?]

When I've booked miles +money fares in the past I've usually had an e-mail, which is also your e-ticket within about 48 hours.

If you have had an e-mail and it gives you all the details of your flight check for the e-ticket reference.

If you haven't had anything at all within the next few days give Virgin a call and they'll check your details and send you an e-mail after that.

Same here, mine has always come through much more quickly than the quoted 'up to 48 hours'. I'd chase them... then again, I AM a bit of a control freak. And proud of it :D

I've just rung flying club and they say to allow up to 4 weeks as they are working in date order. Not a problem I suppose as I'm not flying until next April but I'm a control freak too and I'd rather have it now [:I]

Maybe I am wrong but every airline I have ever flown issues the e-ticket instantaneous - thats is the whole idea of an e-ticket. Not actually having to wait for a paper one? Unless you have booked 4 days before a flight there should be none of this waiting until then for a ticket/reciept. It should be self generating as soon as they make the booking on their computer. Not a backlog waiting to be wadded through.

VS takes time. Sometimes I get called to confirm everything then moments later an e-ticket arrives.

That said, 80 percent of the time the e-ticket arrives with in 24 hours for me. Many people are booking for the summer now so that could be the delay.

Booked my flights at the beginning of May for trip to MCO in Oct.

Companion E-Ticket using Miles was received 2 days later.

Normal paid e-tkt has only just been received today so it seems they can take up to 4 weeks if the booking is a long way ahead.

Not complaining though as it meeans an extra month before I have to pay the credit card!!

Is it another 3 weeker Bill, and is it Upper again? Unfortunately we won't be flying with you this time as we're flying into Washington and driving down this time in November!!!

Elaine

no its PE this time [?] - and only 17 days (times are hard!!) - and its only once a year (unlike some!)

actually wife wasn't that impressed with UCS on the way back - it was a really bumpy flight and she found the bed uncomfortable. (There's no pleasing some people)

Mind you I think we all enjoyed the flight out :) - it was a really good crew and great atmosphere.

cheers
Bill

Get her in economy, 7 hours with her knees round her ears and I am sure the error of her ways will have been seen.....[}:)]

Interestingly I recently made a phone booking for Aer John and me to travel to MCO later on in the year. Because one of the segments for one of us was a D fare and the rest Z we were given two separate booking references. I opined that this would mean two separate withdrawals from my credit card. The absolutely delightful lady who made the booking assured me that would not be the case but I reserved judgement on that and prepared for the long wait for my e-ticket. After all, I had had to nag, cajole and beg for the tickets for the last two trips and turning Gold seemed not to have made one whit of difference. Why should this time be any different? Imagine my surprise the next day when I returned from work to find my e-ticket in my Inbox [y] No sign of Aer John's though. [:(!] That was a Wednesday and when by Friday there was still no sign of it, I decided, having been told on previous occasions that Ticketing only work Monday to Friday, to call on the following Monday. No need. His e-ticket popped into my Inbox at 06:48 on Saturday morning. Someone was doing the night shift! So there we had it - two tickets booked at the same time but with two different booking references and issued three days apart.

Oh, and the credit card bill came today. Yes, there were two separate withdrawals linked to the dates of issue of the tickets. Because they have been converted from sterling to euro, they have two different exchange rates and I have paid two separate Cross Border Handling Fees (something recently introduced [V]) of 1.75%

I'd have thought so too - isn't the e-ticket automatically generated when you book online? If not, doesn't that make it a bit of a mockery - might as well send by snail mail...[^]
