Hmm I dont smell another thread runnign to the length of the goodnightfligth service one now do I? people seemed to be angry about it, yet you hear little of it.

Yes, it is a change, but to be fair, Its not exactly the worst change ever is it.

I mean, if VS were chargign for alcohol, or soft drinks, that would be worse.

I never eat the second snack outbound usually, as Im very picky and dont like a lot of these prefilled sandwiches. On the inbound, I seem to recall being served about 3 pieces of melon anyways, so to not have them at all doesnt seem like much of a loss either.

Im pretty sure the excess costs saved by this reduction will be spent better elsewhere. And if you like a 2nd meal service so much, then take a different airline.

To sum all of it up, its a small reduction and to be fair, not much of a reduction. Ill learnt to live, I hope you can too.

Hi Kev,
Well, that's definitely not the opinion of the majority here, but it is appreciated input nonetheless.

Another thing we haven't considered I suppose is whether most of us enjoy a smaller or larger breakfast -- one with merely fruit and coffee and perhaps a biscuit, or something more. If VS has indeed conducted the survey of the magnitude suggested by our VS staffers on V-Flyer then it would seem that many people truly don't miss the food that is no longer offered. Then again, there's a boatload of folks on V-Flyer who can be heard to query, "Where art thou, sausage links, bacon roll and full English?"[B)]

Any other suggestions for VS on replacing the shortbread offer?

How about a larger stock of non-perishable food that could be kept even if people did not take it. Although, if something was accepted but not eaten then that would have to be thrown away.

Cmon now....lets all be serious.

If you offer a Y cabin a meal that results in huge wastege AND you reach the conclusion thats the reason is because they DONT want it then you are being a tad unrealistic.

If the food gets left over its because its foul, and we all know the vast majority of people arent going to voice that feeling, they only have 30-60 mins left in the flight at that point so they will suck it up and just look forward to getting off the plane.

Those in the trade can harp on about 'wasteage' till Swansea win the FA cup (2007 probably) however lets be frank......its becuase the food is awful.

So to say that people dont eat bad food equates that people dont WANT that particualr food service is insulting to our (the passengers) intelligence......believe it or not VS people we do have some intellect.

Being a betting man I will go out on a limb and say this particular exercise in bean-countery will be reveresed within 12 weeks.

I mean...how much would an egg or bacon sarnie cost.......less than a muffin and some flash frozen fruit Im guessing.

Its an interesting topic none the less, I get the impression that there are people at VS (like we know there are at VH) that just issue these proclamations from the summit of Mt Olympus without actually thinking about the pushback from the great unwashed.

That's the one where the guy in the blue t-shirt looks like he's about to throw up - nice![}:)]

I posted the original post on flyer talk. I was pretty disgusted at what I got. I also noticed that they cut the drinks service out prior to the muffin and tea. It is an absolute disgrace. I've written to Virgin and I'll let you know what their reply is when I get it.

Just as an aside, flying back with the BA shuttle yesterday, even though it was only an hours flight, the whole plane, which was full, was served a cooked breakfast (which was very tasty).

Whats to stop Virgin doing this ?

(there was no yucky stuff, just a sausage, a bit of bacon, some mushrooms and a bit of tomato -it hadn't turned into a mound of gunge)

VS004 the other day from JFK saw a 'breakfast' of a cereal bar - looked like a strip of compacted rabbit droppings [:$] - or a muffin. I politely declined and troughed a pack of Lays Originals and a Hershey bar.;)

I commented to the purser on my recent BOS about this change in service. I have to say that the sandwiches were awful, but the replacement is obviously of much less substance and equally bad. The Brownie I elected to have was filled with hazelnuts (without any obvious warning). I don't have a nut allergy but was a bit concerned about this.

Purser was clearly not surprised by my comments and said he would report them back.

The size of the cup of tea was good though!

Breakfast was always hopeless, and still is with once again less.
