What case did you choose?

Assuming the resrtictions are still in place, when you've done your trip, do let us know how it fares up against the conveyor belts, slides and automated baggage sorters!

Cheers,
Mike

Well, I think I am going to cancel our JFK trip at the end of the month,we are in the position that our travel is all for pleasure and with the present security situation it's going to be a pain in the arse.Looks like bank holiday down the pub:D

Just to poke these "terrorist" idiots in the eye with a sharp pointy stick (carried in my clear plastic bag of course), I think I'll book a trip to the US just for the sake of it. B******s to the lot of them... They'll NEVER terrorise me, EVER.[:p]

Has something changed then? We can now buy books and take onboard?

Yes, you can take books on board that you buy airside. You are advised to keep the receipt.

It beggars belief as to why your own books and magazines are banned, after all how tough is it to security scan a book?

Does anyone else think that it's fairly weaselly that VS isn't operating a ticket rebooking policy for anyone booked to travel at the moment?

VS is currently only allowing changes for people booked to travel on the 10th itself.

Despite the VS flights running, I can think of a significant number of people who wouldn't want to put themselves through the current security fiasco - for example:

* The elderly, disabled and infirm
* Those with a fear of flying
* Those with children
* Those with medical conditions
* Those with specific inflight requirements
* Those who may be contractually bound to carry on board certain items - you've seen the story about the Russian musicians?
* Those only travelling for a short period (e.g. a weekend), for whom the stress and threat of delays, and reduced time at their destination, it simply isn't worth it.

I can see that BA, United, and American are allowing free rebooking for anyone booked to travel between the 10th August and 1st September.

I think that the VS policy as it stands is a bit tough.

Regards,
Mike

I canned my flight home from London on Thursday, not through fear, but to avoid the delays, and went by train instead. I have to admit that my wife was happier about that though.

In the event I ended up missing my train (thats why I always head to the airport early!) and geting a later one. It ended up being delayed, and I finally got into Glasgow around 11pm

Still, at least they give you free drinks on Virgin trains - more than I would have got on Cheezyjet![8D]

Absolutely bloody not (can i say bloody?? Mods zap me if I can't) - Miss DL threw a hissy fit (adolescent hormones)and said she wasn't coming with us blah blah so we said we'd leave her with DL The Elder. Funny.. she's now changed her mind...:DWill struggle with the hand luggage restrictions though.
PS You're not irrational slimey_c.We all have our fears (mine are pigeons and small fluttery birds.....[:0]Terrify me like you wouldn't believe)
