I find it very interesting how the DOT has decided on the restrictions, along with BAA enforcing them.
The intelligence about what was to happen was very specific and extremely clever (whilst being very simple). Methods still exist to get around such measures as the security services are aware and they are simply minimising risk not removing it.
My personal point of view is ditch the restrictions and continue to use the intelligence systems we have in place to uncover the "terrorists". It seems ironic that another 7th July could happen at any time as no measures are in place to prevent that other than intelligence information.

My motivation being I want to keep my lips moist in flight and take my own moisturiser [:p]

Waxing ones legs saves a lot of trouble shaving them, were one to be a die hard professional road racing cyclist, which one isn't.
But its all about wind resistance you know!

Very true about no measures being in place to stop just about any other kind of terrorist act, other than "intelligence". But I guess images of planes flying into the WTC, or the wrecked cockpit at lockerbie are more strongly imprinted on our memories than a london bus or the inside of a tube train.

I recall there being a scene in one of the "Airplane!" films on this very subject.

Airplane 2 which was on ITV2 or something the other week. Had a good old laugh at it, though still prefer Airplane!
