All makes sense to me now. Every day when I taxi out of LGW and see her sitting there I've been wondering what aircraft it was as we never get close enough for me to see. Don't like the look of her just sitting there with no VS branding but still being able to tell that it was a VS aircraft.

Anyone happen to have any photos of her sitting outside the hanger?

I heard it was heading for a private owner but the deal has fallen through. She may be sitting there for a while.

Travel City won't be interested, it's less than 20 years old & you can't squeeze 450 punters on an A340!!!!!

Carribean Airlines to start ops next year with new fleet, apparently!!! The A343 as mentioned is on the market now.

Given they have a better seat pitch than VS, I'd say that statement's built on extremely dodgy ground... ;) [:w]

Travel City are supposed to be getting 2 ex-ANA 747-400s (which are under 20 years old I think) from the 6 or 7 that the Avion Group are buying presumable to replace TF-AME/AMJ and the rest to be converted into freighters. About time too whenever I see AME take off at MAN and the smoke coming from the engines it scares me[:0]

At the risk of sounding a bit stupid here... Does anyone know why they chose G-VAEL for this A343? I get the Maiden Toulouse gag (or at least I have always read it as Made in Toulouse), but VS do have a habit of registrations that make sense, but VAEL just doesn't scan to me... Historically the bit after the G-V*** has been either a word (like VSUN, VSEA, etc.) but mostly, especially of late, it seems the reg matches the name well (VMEG - Mystic Maiden, VOGE - Cover Girl, VFIZ, VWIN, etc...) Any ideas on how it should be interpreted or am I very sad indeed?

Ta!

I'm going to shut up now before I embarass myself any further! [B)]

I'll stick with my original comments, they may have a better seat pitch but they DO hold over 450 punters & they ARE over 20 years old. Dodgy ground, i think not [V]

It is true that Air Atlanta are adding some B744's to the fleet, but i'm sure the existing B742's & B743's will be around for a few more years[:#]

Yes, farewell indeed. I think I took her in January from MIA. Last trip in old UC if i am not mistaken. Any way I can check that? The flight DB here only goes back a few months.
