OK, my never ending confusion over points... If anyone has 1/2 hour to spare tell me how they have reached this number of points!

FLYING CLUB MILES EARNED 1,982.58

Amex Statement balance as of 13/9/06 £858.79

This includes a VS transaction too. 05/09/2006 07/09/2006 4511 VIRGIN ATLANTIC TICKET CRAWLEY £264.60

As i'm in the 'promotional period' and under £10k I should be earning 2 points per £1 as a white card holder.

I estimated i should have got around 2500 points this month but stand to be corrected. Amex say the points are correct but can't tell me how they've arrived at this figure!

The previous month my balance was £380.40 and i earned 485 FC Miles.

Jamie,

I presume you have the new MBNA AmEx?

If so, very sorry to hear your woes, though if you look at the ever increasing number of threads in the Cards section of the forum, or even this latest one in the Clubhouse section of the forum, you will see you are not alone.

Sadly, MBNA seem to have majorly goofed their migration into AmEx cards and most of us, myself included, have erroneous statements, missing miles and pent up aggression towards MBNA. I'm not sure even they can tell you how they arrived at that figure.

Sorry to be so negative, but i think the harsh reality is that we are all looking at a few months before all the miles we are owed all come though to our FC accounts.

If MBNA say they are correct, you need to look at all expenditure since you got the card and work it out for yourself. Some transactions miles will show on your statement but will be credited the following month - no idea why, its been like that since i had a FC Mastercard but the amounts were always nominal.

Thanks,
Sarah

Sarah - Thanks.

It's a complete minefield.. MBNA's marketing dept can't tell me either, they just say it's correct, which i know isn't. Think i'm going to have to write another letter to them!

£264.60 earns 3 miles per £1 for VA purchase = 793 miles

£858.79 - £264.60 = £594.19

594 x 2 miles per £1 = 1188 miles

1188 + 793 = 1981 miles so pretty much there (I've rounded down a couple of figures).

Not sure if I've read what you put correctly though.
