Following on from my previous post, I've been told for certain by the flying club that there is no reward availability on ANZ from LAX to Rarotonga in July.

As Virgin won't submit an availability request to ANZ until you have the right number of miles in your account, and I was 10,000 short, I had to buy 10,000 extra via "buy miles" before they would process my request. Now that it's come back negative, I'm left with 10,000 miles I don't want and a bill for £165! Flying club are refusing to refund!

Any advice?

Okie.

If you are going to make reference to a previous post, it is better to keep it in the same thread. That way people know what you are talking about.

For everyone else, this is the post Okie is talking about.

With respect, you knew that a request could not be made until you ahd the right number of miles. Buying them was never a guarantee that you would get your reward, I dont see why you would think Virgin should refund you the £165, £165 spent with a thrid party nonetheless.

Nevadakaz, with respect I realise that Virgin are not obliged to refund the miles...just looking for some useful suggestions on how to follow this up. I didn't make clear in my previous post that the flying club rep actually advised me to buy the extra miles in order to afford the award, and didn't warn me at that time that there was no availability, or there was any risk that there may be no availability.

Okie - there really isn't too much you can do, as you are obviously aware the miles are totally non-refunable/transferable and whilst understanding your situation it looks like you are stuck with the miles.

All that can realy be suggested is to keep the miles in your account and maybe after some more VS/partner flights/card miles etc use them at a later stage, the miles are valid for 3 years AFAIK so you have a fair bit of time to add to them and then use them.

Sorry couldn't be of more help
