Looking to redeem some miles for UC flights for myself and my fiancee next July, as part of our honeymoon.

I'm new to the whole UC thing, and from the website the UC seats look very private but maybe a little isolated if you're travelling together. Do couples generally travel in the same row, seats one in front of the other?...do the partitions adjust at all?

Thanks
James

PS. Planning to fly LHR to LAX on VS007 so should be getting the 747 configuration.

Some 744s have removable dividers for the centre seats in the B zone. Otherwise it's swings and roundabouts to be alongside or opposite, unless you are in a A340 where they are three across, where you could find yourselves divided by a wall and a walkway.

Rows 6 and 7 at the front downstairs on a 744 are nice, particularly (6A, 6K), (6A, 7A), (6K, 7K). The only downside is the absence of overhead bins.

Have a good honeymoon...

Judging by the number of times this question gets asked (see here and here and here for similar topics with plent of answers) i think its a hard question to address as its really all down to the individual couple. My preferred choices are:

Airbus: 4K & 5K
LGW 744: 6A & 6K
LHR 744: 15D & G (Double suites)

But others will have differing views.

Sitting side by side (say 5K & 6K) has you physically closer, so more intimate to talk, plus you'll get your meal and drink services at the same time. Downside is that you can't see each other as easily. Hence, sitting opposite each other is good if you want to see your partner enjoying their suite, though conversation may feel like it is aired across the cabin, particularly on the 744 as the seats head towards double figures (and the IFE section)

Are you sure it is a 744? LAX is usually operated by A346 now?

For the 744 - Going out i'd get side by side (say 8K & 9K) and try for the double suites on the way home. These are the suites in the B section that have the removable divider as csparker mentioned. There is a picture of me in one in the gallery somewhere.

Also check out the Seat Ratings page for further information on what seats V-Flyers recommend.

Thanks,
Sarah

Depends what time of year you go to LAX as to what aircraft it is, AFAIK[:?]

If you're travelling next July I'm guessing it's a 747, in which case there's no contest - 6 A & K. Soooo cosy for couples...

I'd also endorse 6A and K on the 747 unless you are very tall. You can talk to your travelling companion without trying to communicate in sign language across the cabin. You usually get your orders taken first, and would be well away from the IFBT station. Side by side is OK if you're tall enough to have a conversation over the top of the divider, but you're not going to be in the direct line of sight of your fiancee. Main drawback is seen to be lack of overhead locker as mentioned previously but I've never had a problem with finding space, and some people do find it claustrophobic, rather than cosy, but I much prefer this front section to zone B, which looks cluttered.
