As you will see this is my first posting - have found all the information very useful!

I would like to know if it is possible to use Flying Club miles to buy entrance to the Heathrow Clubhouse? As far as I can see from the VS website, you can use Flyingco miles, but no mention of ordinary miles

Thanks

Nope, not possible I'm afraid Mike.

Well, unless you're prepared to spend 80k + miles on Clubhouse access, and have a free Upper Class ticket thrown in that is...[:w])

But welcome to the site [y]

(You CAN buy access if you purchase your flights through Virgin Holidays, though...;))

No you can't use standard FC miles. The only methods of entry are:

1. Flying in Upper Class that day (revenue or reward ticket)
2. Gold Flying Club Card Holder
3. Guest of UC passenger
4. Guest of Gold FC card holder not flying UC
5. American Express Centurion card holder (UK issued)
6. Through a Virgin Holidays access voucher (£75 + flight to be booked through VH)

Thanks for that - worth a try!

Have already got the tickets- bought economy to SFO returning to LAX and upgraded with miles to PE out and UC back - will be our first experience of UC!

...And, as you say, FlyingCo invite purchase with miles.

....And running round the back of T3, climbing up the drain pipe by gate 20, shimmy along the narrow wall, climb in through the ventilation duct.

If you want to get away from the madness of departures you can buy lounge access through something like http://www.holidayextras.co.uk

The clubhouse they won't be, but they'll have nibbles and complimentary drinks and are much quieter and more comfy then the main hall.

FYI - Clubhouse access methods are all detailed in this FAQ:

Or, just fly from Manchester on Virgin Atlantic in Upper Class & you get the "no Clubhouse" & "no Chauffeur driven car" elements of the package thrown in free of charge - all for a fare that is probably higher than the Gatwick one that includes a Clubhouse & chauffeur car.
