There are also a host of through fares for Japan being launched, using VS to NRT and then NH onwards.

Is the 1:2 ratio between the Economy and UCS fares standard of these types of tickets ? Playing with the VS site reveals a ratio of 1:5 / 1:10 on a small sample of flights. I do notice the UCS has a "terms and conditions apply"...

There is no set ratio between Y anc Jcl fares as far as I am aware. They are set independantly according to market conditions.
On a 'special' fare like this however I guess they might have used on... but as these are JPY fares I guess they're only valid ex NRT?

I did the RTW fare Dec 04 on honeymoon in UCS and I have to say it was fantastic...

we did the Hong Kong to Sydney leg a couple of weeks after the start of the service so it was very quiet in UCS... so it was bliss

Lounge was disappointing in Hong Kong... but then comaprsion to clubhouse in LHR is unfair...

The leg across the pacific was with Air New Zealand - i had an upgrade voucher from United so got upgraded to first whcih was an incredible experience from a service persepctive... but it was on a B747... so no bed ..

the cost around the world was about £3500 each in UCS - when you think you can pay double that just to get to the West Coast it is a fantastic
