Just curious, I checked the details here on v-flyer which is showing a very low percentage of the 346 operating the VS 1/2 services to EWR, however I was just looking on Orbitz comparing some fares and they're showing the aircraft operating these flights as A346 for 2 November and 6 November. I was just curious as to if anyone knew if the 346 is going to be a frequent visitor to EWR now, or are they just scheduling this to take a 744(s) out of service for maintenance?

A346 is now scheduled for winter... and some of the JFK A343s and A346s are now B744.

Ah, I see...when I read the topic subject I was set wondering how they changed half an aircraft;)

Haha I hadn't even thought of that... I guess I should have written "VS1/VS2"

Thanks for the info Ben. I haven't been on a VS346 yet... maybe I'll get the chance if I make it over during the winter! :D

The 017/018 is generally an A346 isn't it and that goes to EWR already.

Hi VS

The VS017/VS018 is the one NYC flight which is consistently an A340-300.

Yep - this is because the times of this service (VS17/18) link in perfectly with the DEL services (VS300/301) which IIRC needs to use the A340.

So aviod these flight if you want V-Port!

I flew as crew on the VS17 a few weeks ago and it was an A340-600.

It is not always an A340-300!

Ok - the majority of the time, this service is operated by the A340!

Hm, this is interesting, rather annoying actually. It's always nice seeing a VS 744 at EWR. Fortunately it's only for the Winter though.

Now, which one holds more seats, 747 or 346? I always thought it was the latter only because it was longer, but I'm not sure whether that's true.

The 747 LHR suite has 394 seats, the LGW/MAN config has 424 seats, and the A346 config 1 has 309 seats, so the 747 holds more pax, with the LGW/MAN config holding the most (less UCS the main reason)

The A346 does have a larger cargo payload than the B744 though.

The 744 is ten-abreast in Y and has the upper deck whereas the A346 is only eight abreast in Y and single deck.

As I mentioned in one of my TRs, I think overall I prefer the A34x, particularly the 346. OK, the bubble is great on the B744, but the 744 is noisier, IMO. The narrower deck is also no bad thing. I only fly W/J, but even in here, it is nice not to have so many seats across. Also a chance you will get the new cabin if you travel PE? A346 in general are getting new stuff first, as they come on line of course.

I far prefer the 744 to the A343s - v:port, upper deck etc. However, I don't really mind either the A346 or 744, although if I had to choose, I'd go for the A346:D
