I never thought of the implications for other manufacturers involved wih the A380 after all the dealys. I only thought it would be a problem for the airlines[:?]

Thanks for the info [y]

Got to feel sorry for the workers in Derby for this. Who would've thought that a major problem with the A380 would come and effect the engine manufacturer.

Although its wise for them to stop production while no planes are being delivered, prevents engine oversupply in case of any potential cancelled orders, which I hope not because the workers in Broughton, Wales (who build the wings) will be affected by this.

There will be cancellations, most airlines are listed companies and will have factored the A380 into their forward plans in terms of passenger numbers, revenue and profitability. Other investments will have been made; i.e. staff, routes, facilities, etc.. With the aircraft delayed, they will have to look at other options to meet their growth plans and keep their shareholders and the market-makers happy, it is just a fact of life. In the competetive airline industry you cannot stand still for long without harmful consequences.

I was talking to someone who works at a local Rolls-Royce factory yesterday and things arn't quite as bad as the media are making out as they are now busy working on the Trent 1000 engines for the Dreamliner.
