I heard from somewhere that the guy leading the team responsible for T2 got fired [}:)] It means that widebody a/c parked at 2 gates have to have an empty gate or a gate filled by a narrowbosy a/c in between.

It is because of this that it will limit MAN's expansion in the future with the airport at its present state. VS are not the only widebody operator to be kicked onto a remote stand...I've seen Qatar A330s, Thomsonfly 767s, flyglobespan's 767 and Travel City Direct's 747s (although the latter two are on remote stands most of the time anyway.) I picked up from somewhere that T1 is the default for any new operators now.

Oh and the taxiways are a pain in the a**e too I believe.

I think you would also get them if you book a J fare from LHR or LGW and fly down from MAN to connect. The limo transfer would then be to/from MAN at this end.

You do indeed. Fly into LGW, then up to MAN and there will be a lovely gentleman called Barry from Tristar waiting for you (NB. other chauffeurs are available).

As others have said, it's understandable to an extent that VS limit their investment at MAN, but they should really be reflecting this in the price of a ticket. I'd use a smiley here, but I couldn't find one to reflect 'slightly hungover ambivalance'...

Surely people "int North" don't need a luxurious clubhouse and all the trimmings that go with it. I would have thought they'd have seen this as a "soft southern" way that just wouldn't fit with the harsh way of life up there.

Far better to offer the service of being beaten to within an inch of their lives at check-in and then be made to sit outside on the apron, luggage and all until the plane arrives.

Just another example that 'Change is not good' :D

...also known as domestic flight check-in at LHR T1 [:o)] (not naming airlines but both are as bad as each other)

No offence meant to any 'northern people'..... Please feel free to don your flat cap, take the whippet for a walk and stop by in the local snug for half a light & bitter on me (the dominos are behind the bar no doubt) :D

Warning: Once again meant as a lighthearted poke at northern folk..... I do actually realise you are not all like that (except those who live in Wigan & Barnsley) - End of PC disclaimer

Maybe the bosses at VS should look and see that for a lot of people travelling through Heathrow is a pain in the arse. Its over crowded , dirty , pain in the ass to go from one terminal to another , its just too busy and if they looked and upgrading and increasing flights worlwide from Manchester I believe it would be a good move. Not everybody lives in the south who travel with VS.
Or even better would be "Dublin" hehe , some hope -

How do BA's facilities, a/c etc. compare at MAN to LHR?

As I said it's a long time since I used MAN at that time the JFK flight was operated by a DC10(most probably an old BCAL aircraft). This service is now operated by a 3 class 767(no First Class),there is a BA Terraces Lounge at MAN.

T3 is dedicated to BA (although it shares it with bmi, AA, Finnair and a few others).

What will happen after the flybe takeover of BA Connect in the New Year is unknown yet. All I know is that flybe's presence at MAN is gonna increase overnight.

Well I've never used LHR before but what I can tell you is that T3 is much smaller than LHR and it does get seriously overcrowded in mornings as I experienced earlier this year

But when T5 opens it will be definitely sub-LHR.

Bottom line is Flight Quality. As a regular UC passenger MAN - MCO the Escape Lounge has be accepted as the best available at the airport and should not be compared to the standard of the dedicated lounges in the South East. I've never really got my head around why people want to spend any more than the minimum time at any airport, dedicated lounge or otherwise. However, both the condition of the aircraft and service of the crew should remain constant throughout ALL VS flights - my infrequent use of the South East flights seems to highlight a shortfall on both counts on MAN flights. On my last couple of flights out of MAN, I appear to be addressed as 'Mate' by the male CC. Familiarity Breeds Contempt!! I continue to use VS in anticipation that SRB will realise that passengers, Business or Pleasure, in every seat from back to front, whatever the route or capacity, require an equal standard of service on every flight.
