What is the Coffee like in UCS?[n][y]

I have heard that it is FRESH FILTERED COFFEE, any truth in that?[:$] or [y]

Do we get any luxuries like Red Bull[?][?] A few VRB's would be very welcome[^][^]

Thanks

Coffee comes from cartridge type machines and includes decaf, fresh, espresso and cappuccino. The espresso is pretty good so hopefully the rest should follow suit. I have known them run out on the return legs especially if the outbound is overnight and breakfast is served, they then resort to jug type coffee

Never seen red bull at the bar (have made several in-depth studies of this area of aviation), Tanqueray 10, tonic and lime has always worked for me!!!!

Have a good one.

Mark.

Steer clear of the cappuccino (frothy Milk not too good). However the others are fine. They use are pretty good quality coffee which is quite strong, presumably to compensate for the effects of pressure on your taste buds.

I'm not sure that you get the full range of coffee's [Cappuccino, Espresso etc] on all VS flights. It may be the [common] case that the LHR based aircraft have the new coffee machines onboard, but the LGW/MAN fleet does not.

Certainly when I flew to/from MCO in November, the only available coffee either way in UC was normal filter coffee. Sure, it was OK, but a "rocket fuel" Espresso would have been very welcome prior to arrival in Manchester, to wake me up to UK time.

The regular (i.e. non-espresso coffee) used to be Douwe Egberts instant coffee, as I recall - throughout the plane.

It seems to have been replaced in Upper with drip-filter coffee within the last year.

From my PE flight yesterday, I'd say we're still on instant coffee in the other cabins, but I could be wrong and it could just be altitude-dumbed tastebuds kicking in.

Every aircraft in the fleet has an espresso machine in Upper Class.

A new coffee maker is currently being trialled on G-VWOW. If the trial is successful, it will be rolled out across the fleet.

Cappuccino in the evening was good. The Coffee being served in the morning was only just luke warm. Rather than complaing I asked for another around 15 mins later, thinking that the jug would have been refilled by then, but no exactly the same as before. My flight was in July last year. It just goes to show that the basic things, like serving hot beverages need to be done everytime otherwise it is just like a "Carry On" film.

This was in J by the way

Ah, that'll be it. I've been travelling on WOW on almost all my 744 J sectors recently - usually on a day flight when I want the coffee so I'm awake at the far end, and will explain why we were back to Nescafe on WKD.

The drip-filter coffee from the new machine on WOW is nicer, I think.

Cheers,
Mike
