Upgrades on accounts....

My first post The excitement is killing me! Well, maybe!

Anyway..... I've been lucky enough to have been upgraded three times with virgin for three. Twice from PE to UC and once from Economy to PE.

Only once was whilst at the check in desk.... The CSR mentioned that I had an upgrade on my account, and I didn't have to use my airmiles.

Is there anyway of knowing if you have an upgrade waiting (like in the states?) or is it a case of turning up on the day?

If Virgin want to be successful in the states, then they'd seriously have to upgrade their flying club rules to match other carriers. There are plenty of 'Mileage Whores' in the states....

Hi Paul - and welcome to the V-flyer fun!! Im sure you have seen that there are many resources here so have a good look around and dont be shy in asking a question if you can find the answer out there!!

To answer your questions - there is no way of knowing if you are going to be upgraded before you get to the airport and sometimes as you have said the upgrade occurs between check in and the gate - this is usually due to the final loads on the aircraft being determined and the requirement for Y ( economy) to be upgraded to PE because the Y cabin is full.

Oh - and there are plenty of "Miles Whores " here too![:w]
