Does anyone know why you can only get J upper class ticket for DXB – LHR return LHR –DXB?
It does not matter how long in advance I try to book I can only get the J ticket..
This has caused me to try to always have a return ticket back to the UK when I don’t really need it.

Thanks

Patrick

If you just book any one-way fare on the VS web site to any destination, you will always get a full fare ticket.

Most airlines are the same, in that it's often cheaper to buy a discounted return fare and not travel on the return leg.

Which is why using miles for a one-way redemption is particularly beneficial.

It is only specialist airlines like EOS where discounted prices are available to one-way trip or for US domestic flights on US airlines which compete with LCC offering such prices

The DXB originating fares are only available (thru IATA) for the moment as J fares. Same for Emirates and BA. Maybe a travel agent would have a deal available?

Even though you have been quoted for a J class when you do the conversions you are getting a good deal.

LHR to Dubai on Z fair is £1,271.30 return or 9,225.70 AED

LHR to Dubai on J fair is £2756.30 return or 20,000.02 AED

Dubai to lhr on J fair is 12,320.00 AED or £1,697.69

So the quoted J fair is a very good deal and probably explains why a Z fair is not available

Hope that helps

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for that. The thing that I dont like is that if I go LHR - DXB- LHR then I can get a Z starting in DXB I have to have a J.

Anyway I have been nice and give a friend my companion ticket.
Thanks

But if you look at it from a diffrent view poin flying DXB to LHR youare saving approx £1060. on a fully changable J fair.

Hope your friend enjoys your companion ticket

and a companion ticket can be used only on a J fare, so originating DXB saves loads of money..... and gets car transfers.

DXB fares are fairly low anyway due to the high supply/competition which mean it only returns a very low yield for VS.
