We're unable to credit the 50% bonus miles for the flight that you have mentioned as miles can only be earned for flights that originate from the UK.

I seem to have missed that in the small print!

That is correct, point 12 in the t&c's on this page of the PE bonus miles offer page on the VS site does confirm this! Sorry.

Agreed, however having just read all the promotion on the web site there is no mention of this other than the 12th item of the terms and conditions.

Hardly obvious!

I do agree it isn't very clear, but they do say "t&c's apply", I guess it will mean you will read them from now on!

Anyone know why the offer isn't available for any flights not originating from the UK??

Surely seats filled is the object of this exercise regardless of where your journey starts from...[?]

Am I missing the obvious here....???[:I]

I think the OP means tickets which originate in the UK, not the flights themselves.

This is not unusual.

I've been a United Mileage Plus member for years, and there's been scores of promos and bonuses that I've not been eligible for, because they apply to US domestic travel only, or journeys which originate in the US, or only US residents are eligible.

It's just the way the cookie crumbles.

As a US-based FC member, I'm very surprised that Virgin will not honor the offer. The T&C paraphrased in the first post is indeed what appears in the offer, and does not seem at all clear. Upon reading it (for the first time) it actually implies more to me that only flights from the UK will receive the miles. As the offer also appeared on Virgin's US website - that's where I saw it - this should have some weight too.

As Mike_Smashing points out, this sometimes happens on other airlines, but at least with United I've found that they usually will decide poorly-written offers in favor of the flyer.

I booked two PE flights in this period, and urge anyone affected to please register your protest with Virgin. (there, I feel better now!) Wonder who I should best contact at Virgin about this?

I have written back to the response I received saying my flights were not eligible but not reply yet.

I have had a look on the US web site but cannot see the offer today. If anyone can find the page please post the URL.

Of course now that I read it again, it says "UK residents only" as the very first condition ... But, really, who reads the &*#&** T&C's anyway! :-)

I certainly do, especially when spending money. ;)
