Just a heads up that I discovered today that the above flight time has been re-scheduled for 9.20am instead of 11.30am. It had disappeared from the "Update Booking" section on the website and a call to Flying Club put me right. Not sure if this is just for one day and if it is quite a recent change, but thought I would mention it here. Perhaps a VA staffer knows a bit more.

Hey, just checked on our scheduled information bulletins on our crew intranet and the VS005 does indeed now depart LHR at 0920 [:$] damn yet another trip we have to stay down the night before if we are commuters! [:0] 0720 check in at heathrow oh no! haha. Doesnt seem to affect the return sector tho still arriving at 0850. The VS007 goes back to a B744 for the summer and the return sector will arrive an hour later at 1240 for the period April - October. The VS027 departs 30 mins earlier for summer at 1045. No difference on the rtrn. The VS401 will operate an hour later from DXB/LHR arriving into heathrow at 1350, thats all the info currently on the S.I.B`s! Cheers

Not surprisingly the VS website is still showing an 1120 departure for February, March and April - except Between 11 Mar and 24 Mar 2007, flight departs 11:15 and arrives 17:00
From 25 Mar 2007, flight departs 11:30 and arrives 16:20.

Fortunately our flight for 17th feb is still showing as 1115.

Can anyone confirm the dates the 0920 departures are effective from and to, please?

Gpik,
When does LAX go back to a B744?.
We are flying UC on 29th June and our seats are still showing on a Airbus 600.
Thanks,
Tim & Chris

Hi Nick,

The Miami time change takes effect from March 25th onwards (currently showing a 09:20hrs departure up until March 2008).

Hi Tim & Chris,

The VS007/008 changes to the 747-400 on March 25th. From June 1st it changes back to the 340-600, so at the moment your flight is not affected.

Hope this helps [y]

So the VS5 will be sitting on the ground in MIA even longer than it does already!?

If my maths are correct doesnt that work out to 5h50 Mins? You can fly from NYC to LON in that time!

Thanks for the info.. wonder when we'll see the changes posted to the website?

I'm wondering if the change is for:

a) Helping unload the "11am rush" out of Heathrow - there's a whole lot of flights, both VS and others, all trying to go across the Pond then.

b) Enable the use of MIA for more connecting flights to other locations in the Carribean and Central America that VS don't serve directly. Reduce reliance on O&D pax for MIA.

c) Arrive at a quieter time into MIA. The existing arrival time is pretty hideous at Immigration... probably MIA at it's most hideous. Maybe by arriving sooner, the queues are shorter?

Those are my thoughts. Otherwise, maybe it's just plain old crew and aircraft scheduling.

Cheers,
Mike

I think the current CPT arrival slot is being used by VS as a departure slot for MIA. CPT seasonal service finishes on 25/03/07. I didn't realise that Arrival and departure slots were interchangable - It looks like they are by this move...:D

The amount of time the aircraft is the on the ground at MIA is purely governed by the lack of options available for landing and departure slots back at LHR unfortunately...:D

I understand that its all to do with slots etc and that VS probably wont be able to do a lot about it - cant imagine they would choose to have an a/c doing nothing for that long!

The thing I find odd about this is that I've had nothing from VS notifying the change. Ironically, AA have moved my internal transfer back by 2 hours, so that's an extra 4 hours in Mia[:(!]!

I'm sure that changes like this happen all the time, but how quickly do booked up passengers normally get notified?

Cheers,

Neil

I took a couple of short haul flights with Continental last year and with both flights, the flight number and times changed. They did not notify me at all - I only found out about it when I went online to the 'update booking' section of their website. In the end, it did not upset my plans but I would still liked to have been informed by Continental.

Neil, this was my issue and why I posted it here. I only discovered the change because the outbound flight on the "Update booking" section of the VA website had disappeared and it just had the return flight listed (as an outbound flight). I thought it was just a glitch on website and wasn't going to check further, but thought I would anyway and that's when I was told by Flying Club of the change and that they were, to quote "waiting for confirmation from the traveller that this was ok". Just made me nervous about when I would have found out about it if I hadn't checked. Just wondering if a Virgin staff member can confirm when the change took place. If it's recent then I'm hoping the notification was on its way.

Phil - when I called FC they said they had tried to call me twice and would of tried once more and then would of sent an email to the address where my eticket was mailed too, so no doubt you would of been notified eventually.
