Hello all,

I recently used miles for a reward flight to JNB in W in Dec/Jan. 2 weeks after booking, I received the Virgin Amex Econ to PremEcon upgrade voucher.

Would I be able to use this voucher on a reward already booked? Or should I not bother wasting my time holding on the Flying Club line?

What do you want to use the voucher for? If its to upgrade your W flight then no. The AmEx upgrade voucher is a T->U upgrade, you would need to book an Economy flight with miles, then use the voucher to upgrade to Premium. If you have already booked in Premium, you cant upgrade any further.

You could cancel your reward flight and rebook though?

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Re-reading my post, I am a bit vague. It's amazing how much sense something makes in your head.

Basically the issue is that I effectively "overpaid" for my reward flight. I could have paid the 50000 to JNB rather than 75000 if the voucher had arrived a little earlier.

Therefore, could Flying Club apply the voucher post-booking and therefore refund me the excess miles?

I didn't think about cancelling the flight and re-booking though...that may be an option.

Many thanks again,

Sascha

Hmmm ... I think thats one for FC to answer, and would largely depend who you speak to as to how its done, if at all as the request is a little cheeky. You can cancel and rebook, though you might be liable for the £25 cancellation fee and possibly loss of miles, again, depends who you speak to an your FC status.

Will you be able to use the voucher at another time? If so i'd just hold onto it and take it as sods law. If not, try calling FC and see if they'll do it.

Thanks,
Sarah
